The one thing New York City is missing is a beach. If your looking for a nice beach that’s not to far Jacob Riis beach is perfect. It’s located at Rockaway Breezy point and you can get there by train! There are life guards, concession stands and bathrooms. It’s very clean and the waves and not to aggressive.

  • Best things to do in Breezy Point Breezy Point is situated near places like historic Robert Moses-designed Jacob Riis Park and its Art Deco bathhouse. Also in close proximity, the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, which offers 20 miles of scenic bike trails. Here amidst the sand dunes, marshes, and breeding grounds for birds like the black skimmer and piping plover, this 200-acre stretch of land is a sweet spot for surfers, families who nestle into their privately-owned beach cabanas at the Silver Gull Club, and fishermen in search of striped bass, blue fish and summer flounder.

  • Breezy Point is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens, located on the western end of the Rockaway peninsula Jamaica Bay to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the west and south. The community is run by the Breezy Point Cooperative, in which all residents pay the maintenance, security, and community-oriented costs involved with keeping the community private. The cooperative owns the entire 500-acre (2 km2) community; residents own their homes and hold shares in the cooperative.

  • I’m kind of disappointed form this park. I mean, its nice and big and green but that’s how every park is? There should be something unique or something more interesting here. Although, changes are being made and I’m so glad! Most children from around come out to play here and all I’d say is it’s a great park for kids and the elderly. People in the park are actually very caring though, and you can bring your pets for a walk here too. Yeah you can take some cool pictures here too but I wouldn’t suggest this place for friends get together or anything!

  • A windy Spring morning calls for the beach! My husband and I needed a fresh weekend and so did my kids so we all went to Fort Tilden Beach. The journey was a total something! Ups and downs but oh well, here we are! The wind was blowing, the sand and the ocean looked just as fabulous as ever. I think beaches are a great way to start afresh week. We lay there under the umbrella and watched the kids run around the beach. There were cute little dolphins too! We’re glad we brought our necessary stuff like sunscreen, umbrellas, mats, and some snacks because there weren’t shops around. It’s a great beach if you want to swim too because I could tell my kids were having the time of their lives. The sound of waves felt so heavenly, and oh god I feel fresh and more relaxed than ever!!

  • The Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge covers 9,000 acres (20 square miles) of open bay, saltmarsh, mudflats, upland field and woods, two man-made brackish ponds—the 117-acre “East Pond” and 45-acre “West Pond,” and small freshwater ponds, including Big John’s Pond. The Wildlife Refuge is part of the Gateway National Recreation Area. Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge is one of the best places in New York City to observe migrating species: 332 bird species, nearly half the species in the Northeast, have been sighted at the refuge over the last 25 years (38 are accidental, and include several New York State records). It is one of the most significant bird sanctuaries in the northeastern United States. Birding is excellent year-round. It is a rich area for wintering waterfowl, including Snow Goose (at least 700 at one time), Brant, various species of ducks and raptors including Cooper’s Hawks and Peregrine Falcon.

  • The Rockaways has clean shoreline and a nice Boardwalk. It is a great place to gather with family and friends. I stopped by the boardwalk to grab a bite while my son fished. The restaurant, the Dredsurfer Grill, was quirky and had a menu with a Caribbean flair. I loved the atmosphere. It reminded me of the eateries in Miami Beach. There was a lounge area with a flat-screen TV and sofa, seating area inside and outside the restaurant. On the menu, you'll find smoothies, jerk chicken, onion rings, fries, chicken nachos, sandwich wraps, hotdogs, assorted beverages and lots more.

  • Soul food Kitchen is one of my go-to spots in Bayswater for some good soul food. I love that they have a large selection of different meats and sides to choose from. I usually try to order something different each time. However, my staple side dishes usually wind up being mac and cheese and collard greens. I've never been disappointed with any of my food choices. The prices are fair and you get a nice full-sized plate which my greedy self loves Lol. This spot is mostly a take out spot but there are few tables and chairs on the side. They look like they could have outdoor seating when it's warm. This is definitely a spot to check out to get your soul food fix. They also sell a selection of sliced cakes and pies. I really like them

  • This is my go-to spot before the beach and I'm never disappointed. I tried the fried chicken sandwich. Today I was heading to the beach and called in an order for pick up. We called in the order and the girl was very thorough in taking my order. It was ready and waiting in a quick 10 minutes. I was very happy with this order. All the food was delicious and it was effortless for pick up. I will be coming back.
