  • Oh, Wao! Look what people are telling about Sunnyside! The name "Sunnyside" originates with the Bragaw family, French Huguenots who had purchased the land in 1713 and named their estate "Sunnyside Hill". Sunnyside was a rural hamlet mostly consisting of small farms and marshlands. Sunnyside is a diverse neighborhood with an active arts scene and deep progressive roots. It is known for hosting the first St. Pat’s for All Parade in 2000, bringing together the neighborhood’s Irish and L.G.B.T.Q. communities. “It really feels like an incredibly cosmopolitan, but the suburban community,” said Lauren R. Bennett, 33, an associate broker with the Corcoran Group, who bought her first home in Sunnyside in 2018, paying $525,000 for a two-bedroom condominium with a 300-square-foot terrace on 49th Street and 43rd Avenue. It has that small-town vibe where everyone is so friendly, and you run into friends on the street. It is patrolled by the New York City Police Department's 108th Precinct. Politically, Sunnyside is represented by the New York City Council's 26th District. #sunnyside

  • The initial development of Sunnyside was inspired by the garden city movement that had gained prevalence in England. Between 1924 and 1928, developers constructed the housing development of Sunnyside Gardens, inspiring a wave of residential newcomers to the area. The timing of this development would prove inopportune, as close to 60 percent of homes in the area were foreclosed upon followed by the depression. In early 2003, an initiative was started to preserve the historic value of the neighborhood, with residents and champions of the cause fighting to have the district rezoned as a New York City Historic District. In 2007, the area was finally designated by the Landmark Preservation Society. With these protections in place, Sunnyside has been on a gradual return to its former and original charm. #history

  • Hey Folks! Let me tell you about some foodie resorts in sunnyside! Sunnyside is an extremely diverse neighborhood. With that, its diversity permeates into the restaurant and food culture. With a number of dynamic and fan-favorite restaurants ranging from Peruvian to Turkish delights, there is plenty to taste and explore. 1. SoleLuna Sister Restaurant of Sotto Le Stella. Family-owned and operated. Authentic Italian is always a hit never a miss! Try anything on the menu and it’s guaranteed... 2. Chihuahua If you love authentic Mexican dishes with amazing drinks, then you've come to the right place. You get either indoors or outdoors. They start you off... 3. Maggie Mae's Bar Nice bar... FYI doesn't serve food, it's solely a bar. You can bring your food or get it delivered there. The drinks are very good here, and...

  • My dad loves Bar Rescue a reality-TV show that helps bar owners bring back their bar from the brink. I actually watched it a few times with him and there was a really interesting one where the bar looks like a literal fire station. So I had to go, we went on a Friday and I still can't believe it looks like a fire station. Ordered a cheeseburger and fries late at 9pm and it came out perfect and hit the spot. Beer selection was great and my dad loved his drinks.
