I came to visit fort Hamilton with a friend. The tour was boring as I already have been here a couple of times. To freshen up our moods, we went to the Bowling alley which was within walking distance from the fort. The bowling area was great with recently re-done lanes. Our minds freshened up, after bowling a couple of bowls. The bowl was hitting the pins so nicely that I even challenged my friend which I lost. This place offers other options as well like a pool table, arcade, and video games. I played on an arcade machine after a long time. The food served here is pretty good. We ordered a pizza and two beers. The overall service of this place is great. This place is located in the military area so be ready for ID checks. They did a thorough background check before letting us in. Other than that, it is a nice place for bowling with your friends and family.

  • As an American citizen, everyone should have a basic knowledge of its history. The best way to learn about it is to visit history museums. Yesterday, I visited the Harbour Defense museum in Fort Hamilton to add some historic knowledge to my mind. The museum is full of old military equipment. They don’t allow easy access because of the military installations. My experience was great for educational purposes. I got to know a lot about our past military achievements and New York Harbour. It exhibits military uniforms used in different wars, old maps, and some ear relics. The museum is located inside fort Hamilton, which was prepared for battle. The best thing about this museum is the volunteers working there. They patiently guided me about the museum. Some of them are war veterans; they told our group a lot about their war stories. There is a big canon directed towards the harbor. This was surely a great tour for me.

  • Having been a lover of historical places, I get shocked when people say they don’t like history. (I mean who couldn’t like history?? (As it turns out…there are plenty of people). Yet there are many who share my interest. For anyone who just wants to step off the crowded sidewalks and spend some quality time at a quiet and peaceful place, Fort Hamilton should be your destination, guys! Walking around this fort makes me feel like I have stepped into another world. It is a steep walk up the hill from Hamilton the fort but trust me, it has to offer more than just a traditional fort. It was built in the 1870s to protect the Royal Naval Dockyard; today, it has become a rare historical structure in military architecture. What I love most about this place is that it provides an ideal location where you get a great view of overlooking the bay, Hamilton city, and the harbor. I had so much fun exploring the nature around the fort, enjoyed the company of nature. If you have enough time, take the stairs down to explore the natural landscape of exotic plants, bamboo trees, and lizards (just kidding)… and yes, you will meet many chickens on your way. Not to mention, the entrance price is just perfect for everyone (It’s absolutely free, just walk in and enjoy!) Pro-tip: Make sure you are wearing walking shoes, if you intend to explore the natural side of it. Also, keep a water bottle with you.
