If you are looking for a place to get a decent haircut in Eastchester, do check out The Dapper Division Barbershop at 157 Fisher Avenue. They are quite ritzy and famous around that corner. I personally loved the owners, Matt and Alex who were really welcoming and full of interesting stories of the hood. Without a doubt, they give the best haircut in town and stay true to their name, The Dapper Division. They have worked on their interiors really well, they have a luxurious lounge area where you can relax and wait for your turn while having an espresso. A normal haircut would cost you around 30$ which seems quite affordable considering the amenities they provide so all in all it's a good deal. It stays open from Monday to Saturday and is crowded during the weekends so you can pre-book an appointment for yourself.

  • If you are near 233rd Street in the Bronx and looking for a place to finish your papers, research, or study, make sure to check in Edenwald Public library. Do not judge the book by its cover, they kind of stand true to this phrase! It’s a single-story unit inside which they have created separate sections for Kids, young adults, and adults. Just a warning! The kid's section will be a bit louder so you can refrain from visiting in the early hours. They have recently upgraded their interiors and systems, breathing a new life into the library. You might feel this library is not as big as other libraries in New York but this is actually a boon for the residents of the Bronx, especially kids. They arrange for specially recorded sessions for kids helping them learn and grow. It is always nostalgic for me whenever I visit this library as it takes me down the memory lane when I was a kid not from a very affluent background spending most of my childhood here, making new friends, and learning novel things every day. Do visit this library if you are in the Bronx, it will definitely revive all your childhood memories!

  • If you are near Seton Avenue and feel like taking a stroll while admiring nature, Seton Falls Park is your go to place. Located in East 233 Street, between Seaton Avenue and Baychester Avenue, Seton Falls Park is over 30 acres of preserved nature that hasn’t been touched since the revolutionary war. As you start walking, you will see a man made waterfall, which is quite appealing. You can almost call it the grand canyon of Bronx considering over 30 species of birds and natural wetlands. Trust me, stay away from Poison Ivy, you will find a lot of them there. Since I reside in New York City, I prefer coming here on weekends to get respite. As you start exploring further, you can see a lot of rock formations throughout the park. You will also find Pokeberry bushes right by your side as you go deeper. An interesting fact, the Constitution of the US was written with Pokeberry ink which is derived from these bushes. Whenever you visit this park, you will notice trail markers which will help you know which trail you are on and where you want to head. I can bet that during Autumn, this place would look phenomenal!
