Oh my god. The food was so freaking good I don't think we spoke more than a couple of words while we shovelled it in our mouths. The goat was cooked so perfectly I'm still drooling thinking about it. The rice was moist, flavorful and just perfect. And the peppers and onions were fantastic. But above all that, the Rum Cake. That was worth every single penny. I've only had rum cake once before, and the alcohol had completely overwhelmed the cake itself. The slice I got from here is so well balanced, so perfectly perfect that there are no other words to describe it. If you're thinking of coming here to try the food, please please do! Your taste buds will thank you!

  • I love trying out foods from different cultures and I heard about an Algerian place nearby where I was visiting. The northern part of Steinway Street is still flush with Arab and North African culture, community, and cuisine and Merguez & Frites provide visitors with a delicious taste of The Maghreb. The namesake sandwich was great, but if I had to name one item that is a must during every visit, it's actually the Algerian pizza. The crust is thin and tasty without being flimsy while the tomato sauce and herbs provide plenty of flavor so you're not missing the cheese. There are a few other options on the menu including kofta and chicken, which are also worth trying, This is Queens dining at its finest: a traditional Parisian street food popularized by Algerians that is perfect when washed down with a Brazilian guarana soda. Highly recommended!
