So Baisley Park has a couple of cool things. 1. The pond 2. The cricket courts 3. The tennis courts! There’s a bunch to the north of the park and a couple to the south as well! You have to purchase a tennis permit to use them, but you can play anytime from April to Thanksgiving, which is a SUPER LONG season! Make sure to follow the rules, though, so smooth-soled shoes and only 6 balls per court. The ball is in YOUR court, are you going?
Baisley pond park is a beautiful neighborhood park which has all types of activities on the weekends. One can be a spectator to many competitive games . Cricket and football are played every weekend by different clubs from different areas/countries. You might even get lucky and be able to sample some dishes from different places. The path around the pond is good for bicycle/roller skates/skateboard. Playground is nice too. There are also tennis courts and a big field. People often fly kites there in summer. There is also a miniature garden with a gazebo. I’ll be having a picnic with my boyfriend there again. We had a good time.

Turns out NYC has cricket fields? Not like the bugs, like the sport. I think I'd like to learn how to play, but no matter how many times I try and learn about the game, I get even more confused. I know it's sort of like baseball where there's a batter and also a pitcher. And there are two posts where the teams are stationed. Beyond that, though, I'm completely and totally lost. Does anyone know how the sport works? I'd love to know! Especially since I know, there are cricket fields open to the public in NYC!
Baisley Pond Park has been wildin 💀 Turns out that tiny pond supplied all of Brooklyn with its water until the 1800s. Like, I get that Brooklyn back then wasn’t as big as it is now, but what! 😭 Also, an entire Mastadon was discovered there late that century. My big question was how?! They had been using the place for water for 100 years and then at the end they randomly found an extinct mammal. Like, huh 🤣 It’s a nice place now! Did anyone else know about the mastodon before, or was it just me who didn’t know? Lol.
